🔹Project Overview

The Udhampur–Ramban stretch of NH-1 is a strategic corridor in the Jammu & Kashmir region, critical for civilian and military transportation. MAARG CONSTRUCTION was contracted by Gammon India Ltd. to execute hill cutting operations as part of the national highway widening programme, where complex terrain and high-altitude challenges demanded precision and experience.

🔹Scope of Work

We undertook full-scale hill cutting with mechanical breaking and chiselling techniques, including:

  • Rock Cutting in Hilly Terrain – Precise removal of massive hill sections for road expansion.

  • Mechanical Breaking & Chiselling – Safe and controlled rock fragmentation without blasting in sensitive zones.

  • Volume Management – Excavation and clearance of over 9 lakh CUM of earth and rock material.

  • Safety in Steep Conditions – Use of anchored machinery, trained workforce, and protective measures to prevent landslides and debris fall.

  • Environmental Compliance – Execution in line with eco-regulations to minimise impact on mountain ecology.

🔹Our Role & Impact

Working in steep, unstable terrains with unpredictable weather conditions required a highly experienced team and meticulous planning. MAARG CONSTRUCTION successfully delivered this project ahead of schedule, enabling the next phase of road construction to proceed without delays.
